Bali Pass is one of the Garhwal Himalaya's most demanding and rewarding trekking expeditions. The trail connects the beautiful Ruinsara Valley with the sacred Yamunotri region through a dramatic crossing of the 4,953 m Bali Pass. Trekkers journey through pine forests, alpine meadows, remote campsites and the stunning Ruinsara Tal before tackling the challenging high-altitude pass. With breathtaking views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and Black Peak, this expedition is designed for experienced trekkers seeking a true Himalayan adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1
Rishikesh to Sankri

Scenic drive to Sankri village followed by trek briefing and overnight stay.

Day 2
Sankri to Chilurgad

Drive to Gangad and trek along the Supin River to Chilurgad campsite.

Day 3
Chilurgad to Devsu Thach

Trek through dense forests and meadows to Devsu Thach.

Day 4
Devsu Thach to Ruinsara Tal

Reach the beautiful Ruinsara Tal lake and camp beside its crystal-clear waters.

Day 5
Ruinsara Tal to Thanga

Gradual ascent to the high-altitude campsite at Thanga for acclimatization.

Day 6
Thanga to Bali Pass Base Camp

Short climb to base camp and preparation for the pass crossing.

Day 7
Cross Bali Pass

Early morning ascent over the 4,953 m pass followed by descent to Lower Dhamni.

Day 8
Yamunotri to Rishikesh

Visit Yamunotri Temple, descend to Janki Chatti and drive back to Rishikesh.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bali Pass is a challenging high-altitude expedition suitable only for experienced trekkers. Strong fitness and prior Himalayan trekking experience are essential.

Trekkers should have completed at least one Himalayan trek above 12,000 ft and possess good cardiovascular fitness.

The best months are May–June and September–October when weather and trail conditions are most favorable.

The trek reaches nearly 5,000 m, so proper acclimatization is crucial. Our itinerary includes acclimatization days and trained support staff.

Sankri is approximately 200 km from Rishikesh and takes around 8–9 hours by road.
