Starting from the picturesque village of Sankri, the trail winds through snow-covered pine forests, frozen clearings and stunning campsites before reaching the 3,810 m (12,500 ft) summit. The sunrise view reveals majestic Himalayan peaks including Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black Peak and the Gangotri range. December to April is the prime snow season, with January and February usually receiving the heaviest snowfall.
You should comfortably jog 4–5 km and maintain good stamina for long trekking days.

Sankri is approximately 220 km from Rishikesh and takes around 9–10 hours by road.
